christmas time in lawrence......

December was a whirlwind, especially before we headed to Utah. These pictures are out of order but here are a few Chrismas things we did before we left........
One of our favorite things to do in Lawrence at Christmas time is to go see Santa arrive. He goes on the roof of a department store and gets saved by the firemen.
It was so fun and such a nice night! We didn't even need coats!

Then the kids can go sit on Santa's lap. Jack was loving Santa this year! He wasnt ever afraid and was always willing to tell Santa he wanted a train.

I hosted our girls Christmas party. It was the night before Jack and I left, so it was a little thrown together but definetely worth it! We decided to make gingerbread house decorating an annual thing and it was a lot of fun! I love being able to decorate a house without the kids around! I am so grateful for my great friends out here!
We went to the annual Christmas parade downtown. It is an old fashioned parade and all of the entries are horse drawn. It is always a lot of fun and the kids always love the horses.
It was freezing! Of course it didn't help that we accidently showed up an hour early, needless to say we didnt stay for the whole parade, but what we did see was fun!
Once the horses started to come Jack cheered right up!

We decorated our house a couple days before Thanksgiving so we would be able to enjoy it for at least a week or two. We had a good time setting up our Christmas tree and enjoying activities like reading Christmas books nightly and trying to make our home feel like Christmas!
(this picture kills me, Jack's hair got so long before we went to Utah. We were trying to hold out so Aunt Bree could cut it, but we finally couldnt stand it and a week or so before we came home we took him for a haircut. Look at his curls!)
