Luke's Celebrity Look-a-Likes

So I got this off my friends blog (thanks melissa!) and I thought it was kind of fun. It does cut off some of it (and yes the one that got cut off of Luke's was George Clooney!) It is kind of un to see who you look like!

The first picture I did of me had people like Whoopi Goldberg and Serrina Williams and some old ladies I didn't know. It obviously was a bad picture. I don't know how I look black and eighty but maybe I just can't see it!

Weekend of Fun

So last weekend we got to spend lots of family time together. School hasn't been to bad for Luke (yet) and with being in a new place there are lots of things to see and do. This is Jack and Luke sleeping in, in doesn't happen to often now that school has started.
This is downtown Lawrence, its called Mass street. It is a really cute street with local shops and restaurants. We went and ate at one of our favorite local places, Free State Brewery and walked around the shops.
Saturday night we went with some friends to a Royals baseball game. The weather was perfect and it was a great night to go. We only live 40 minutes from pro baseball and football so I am sure this won't be our last game! We are just waiting for Luke to get totally consumed in school but until then we will have our fun!

Happy 6 Months!

Jack is turned six months on Friday! August 24, 2007 was six months from the day that he came into our lives and we can't imagine a life without him anymore. Waking up each morning to his beautiful smile starts out each day perfect. We couldn't ask for a better baby, we love him so much! Happy (half) Birthday Jack!

Play Group

So every Thursday they have a play group set up with the girls from all the different Lawrence wards. They do different things and even though Jack isn't really big enough to go run around with the kids it is a great time for me and him to leave the house and be around other people. Everyone in the ward is super nice and they have made us feel really welcome. I know I have said this before but I know that I could not have moved across the country without the church! They have really made it bearable to move plus having five big strong men to help us move our stuff was a major plus! Any way back to the play group, so today we went to Gage Park in Topeka. It is a cute park that has a train ride, carousel, and other fun things for the kids to do.
This is when we were on the train. We went through a tunnel and I had o take a picture of Jack's face it was to die for. He was a little bit scared but he got over it as soon as we got out of the tunnel. (I look pretty scary to in the picture too)
This is the cute little train conductor. He was so cute, he looked like he came out of a story book.
This is our neighbors little girl Payton. She is really cute and she loves Jack. She always calls him Baby Jack, and Jack loves getting attention from her. (By the way do you see the plastic keys Jack is holding? Keep those in mind, I'll tell you something in a minute about them)
Here is the train again
Ok so we were sitting there while the kids ate their lunch and this girl was sitting probably 50 ft from us. Before I knew I didn't see her coming but she walked up and took Jack's plastic keys that I had hanging on Jack's stroller and walked away. She didn't say one word she took them and left. It was really funny we all just sat there kind of stunned. We realized that she has disabilities and we later saw her taking the keys apart and putting them on a necklace of hers, it was really cute. I am sure she enjoys those keys alot more than Jack did so we were happy to let her keep them. It was just funny because she must have been eyeing them from way back because she came right up to them and didn't waste anytime. Good times.
There were big squirrels running all over. It was cute because the kids kept chasing them.This is the carousel they had. Jack wasn't quite sure about it but he had fun. So as you can see we had a fun day! Jack was worn out by the end of it which meant a long nap, yeah!

Udate on Jack Jack

So today we have officially been out of Utah for two weeks. I know that doesn't sound like a long time but already Jack has learned many new things. He is sitting up by himself really well now. He can sit there for awhile until he gets distracted and tries to grab something and ends up toppling over.
He is also sooo close to crawling. He gets up on his hands and knees and tries to take off. He usually ends up scooting backwards though. He gets frustrated because if he is trying to get to his toys he usually ends up farther away from them. I am just waiting for the day when he just goes for it. I am sure it will be soon.
This week his third tooth also cut through. It is on the bottom by the other two. I let him have a piece of watermelon in his mesh chewer (I don't know what they are called) and he went to town on it. Having a teething baby is so fun!
This is Jack's new best friend, Zippy the Zebra. He loved him from first sight at the store. He cried when I tried to put him back and I even tried to switch him with another animal, but Jack wouldn't go for it. He is pretty cute though.
He also started to smile when you pull out the camera. You could always get him to smile when you took a picture but now he does it on his own as soon as you pull it out. I love his smile, doesn't it make you heart melt!

First Day of School

So I am posting this picture for Jill my mother-in-law to show her that I continued on with the tradition. I really tried to get him to wave but he was stubborn and wouldn't do it. Ever since Luke started Kindergarten JIll took a picture of Luke on their doorstep waving goodbye. So how many years later we are still trying to keep that tradition! We are really proud of Luke and all the hard work he has put into his schooling though. He works so hard so that one day we can hopefully not live like students anymore! We love him and are so proud :)

The Sweet Town of Lawrence

So I know that you have all been dying to see where we live (I shouldn't show you pictures you should have to come visit to see it). This is our apartment building. We live in the top right, it isn't very exciting but I am sure we will be in this apartment for a year. I can live anywhere for a year, right? No I am kidding they really aren't bad. We are still waiting on our couch and still trying to get settled so I will post pictures of the inside later.

We drove around town last weekend and tried to take pictures (most of them didn't work out) so I am sure you will see beautiful Lawrence in many other pictures. One thing that we were really impressed with were the frat houses. There is a whole street of them and they are massive, the nicest houses we have ever seen! As you can see because it was a Friday night they are all out on the lawn partying. Last Saturday we went to a really nice outlet mall. And guess what we found, we knew it had to be somewhere in Kansas? The Yellow Brick Road!

Sweet Indulgence

So the move was hard on me. Leaving family and friends, driving to the middle of nowhere. When we pulled up to our apartment it was lik 110 degrees (not exaggerating), alot of our stuff had been broken and scratched from he move, and our apartment doesn't quite fit all of our stuff. So what I am trying to say is that I needed something to cheer me up. So when I heard that there was a Cheesecake Factory only 30 minutes from our home I was super excited.


It was so yummy! It was definetely what I needed. The waiter recommended tis Godiva cheescake brownie sundae! It was heaven. So I think that I will be fine for a couple weeks now, and then I might have to make myself feel better and go get another peice of cheescake!

Road Trip

So the drive to Kansas was a fun one! It only took us two days which was about 20 hours of driving. Of course since we had Jack we made lots of stops but he did great! He even learned a new trick, he started playing peek-a-boo with his blanket. I have video of it but no pictures.
So the drive through Western Kansas was really pretty and there was alot to see (I am being sarcastic). The only thing we saw that looked somewhat exciting was all of these billboards that said to come see the World's Largest Praire Dog! So it doesn't really sound that exciting now, but in the middle of Western Kansas that was all that we had. So we pulled up to Praire Dog town and paid our 15 dollars to see....
Pretty Much Nothing! We went outside to this little farm with animals like birds, pigs, and lots of praire dogs. In the picture you can see all of their potholes that the dig and they pop up out of them. It was so hot too. We stayed about 10 minutes. We kept watching for the "world's largest praire dog" to come popping up out of one of the holes.
Little did we know that it was there right before our eyes! This huge wooden statue. So ya we pretty much wasted 15 dollars but at least it brought some excitment to the 20 hour drive.

Beautiful Avery Gwen

On Tuesday, August 7 Avery was born! I was so excited that I was able to be there. I told Summer all along that she would come early enough that I could be there and my wish came true. I was able to be there through the whole birth, it was an amazing experience. She came out so beautiful and perfect. She was only 5 pounds 11 ounces and 17 and a half inches long. She is so tiny! You feel like you are just carrying the blanket when you hold her. She also came out with tons of dark hair! It is super cute. This picture she is brand new, I was one of the first to hold her.
We had to compare Jack to Avery and I decided that Jack is a monster now! He is like 4 times her size!

One of my favorite things about her is that she is a thumb sucker just like her aunt! Just minutes after she came out she starting sucking! Look at all her hair!

So I am sitting here crying as I write this blog, beacuse it kills me to know that I will not see Avery everyday like I saw Ethan and Haylee. In my family we are extremely close to the kids and I know that I will be with her it will just be a little harder since I am a thousand miles away. I already have my plane tickets to come home the end of September, and I told Summer to come up with a way to stunt her growth until then. I just wish I could kiss her little tiny head right now! We couldn't ask for a more perfect baby!

There's No Place Like Home

So the last couple of weeks have been crazy as most of you have already read. We packed up all of our stuff and sent it with a moving company off to Kansas. We had about a week before we left so we moved in with my parents. We have been trying to sell our house for the last few months and finally a couple days before we moved we got an offer! So we were relieved to not have to worry about that from another state but it was sad to sell our first house. It was a great first home and we will miss it (especially because we are going back to an apartment).
I had to post a picture of Jack's nursery because I loved it. He never had a chance to sleep in it because he is still in our room, but oh well. I had to make it cute anyways. I promise once we get all moved in in Kansas he ill sleep in his crib since he is almost 6 months.
This is our bare townhouse! And so now off we go to Kansas! I am sure that it will be a good experience, but we will miss Utah! Utah will always be our home!

Quick Update

So most of you might think that right now I am riding in the car on my way to Kansas, but we are still in Utah! I am actually sitting at the hospital waiting for my sweet neice Baby Avery to arrive! I thought that while I was here I would get caught up on my blog, but it won't let me post any pictures so I decided to just tell everyone what is going on. A week ago we moved out of our house and have been living with my parents ever since. We have tried to cram in all the family time we could since we were supposed to leave on Monday. So when Summer went to the doctor last Thursday, they told her that her baby Avery wanted to see me and baby Jack, before we moved, so they were going to induce Summer on Tuesday (today)! Really she hadn't been growing very much in the last couple of weeks, so they decided to take her right at 37 weeks and get it over with. She is doing great and is healthy it is just more of a precaution. So of course I was not moving one day before Avery was to be born so we decided to stay a little longer. So I will keep everybody updated when she comes and in the next few days I will post pictures of the last week! Tomorrow we will really head off to Kansas and make the big move!
