my 26th bday

This year for my birthday we decided to head out to downtown Kansas City and do some things we had never done before. This is our favorite spot to drive by in Kansas, in the spring the trees are amazing.
First, we went to Union Station.
I love that Charlie can sit by Jack in the stroller. Doesn't he look so big!
We also headed over to Crown Center. They have a little shopping center and there is a Crayola store. Jack drew me a birthday picture.
It is hard to see but Jack drew a picture of him. He has never drawn a person, I was so excited! I love it. After I took this picture he drew some "crazy" hair to match his.
Then we stopped for lunch at Fritz's. We had never been there but I heard great things about it so I was excited to see it. Jack got a conductor hat and loved looking at the train.

You call on the phone to place your order.

Then the cutest thing happens.....this little train goes around the track and comes by and drops off your food! then your food is lowered down to you. It was adorable!
Then we headed over to the Hallmark center. I have heard great things about their kids center, but we had to wait awhile before we could get in so we decided to just take the tour. I am still a little bummed we didn't do the kids center but we still had fun. Jack got to see how they make cards and see cards throughout the years.

Then we went out to the fountains. Of course Jack had to get wet! So then we tried to race through without getting sprayed.

I love this picture of downtown Kansas City.
This is for the dinosaur exhibit at Crown Center.
Crown Center didn't have much to do but it was beautiful!
Then we went to Cheesecake Factory. Yum!
We had such a fun day! I am glad we went and did some stuff we had never done before we moved!

mothers day

I had a great mother's day this year. We spoke at church on Sunday, so the morning was a little stressful but we managed to pull it off. It actually ended up being a blessing we got to speak on Mother's day, because we had a chance all week to reflect on our own mothers, and read many wonderful talks on mothers.

The rest of the day we just relaxed and had a nice dinner. Thanks Luke for making it a great day!
I couldnt ask for anything else.....
Jack made little packages for the grandmas. He made them paper flower baskets and chose out some yummy treats to send with them. He was so excited for them to get them in the mail!
Luke and Jack went and picked me out a new pair of shoes. I love them. Jack told me that they were beautiful shoes and when I put them on he said, "you are beautiful!" He was so excited.
We are very excited to see our own mother's this week! We love them and are so grateful for them!

catching up and saying goodbye

Last Friday we met up with our friends Devin & Melissa. Devin graduated last year and they moved out to Kansas City. We have been meaning to get together with them all year and we were so glad we finally did it! They were our first friends when we moved to Lawrence, we lived by them in our first apartment. We had such a fun night! We went to a hibachi grill and the kids loved when the man cooked our food in front of us. Then we got to go see their new house, it is so beautiful! They are so grown up now, we can't wait till we get to be grown up too! Jack loved playing with Payton. She was reading books to him in their playroom and I went down there he told me, "can you just leave mom?" Then they came up wearing king and queen crowns. We really had a great time.
Thanks for the fun night Devin & Melissa!

training them early.....

checking things off our list

We have been busy trying to do all the things we love in Kansas the last couple of weeks before it is time to say goodbye. It is hard knowing that when we go do something that it will more than likely be our last time doing it.

We went with music class to the Lawrence visitors center last week. It is right by the train tracks and about every 10 minutes a train goes by. Jack loved watching and waiting for the trains.
The boys would light up when the trains started to get close.
Jack and Evan.

We also went to T-Rex with some friends one last time.
Jack got to get dessert, he was so excited.

We also got to shop the outlet mall while we were there and play in the fountains.

My New Life

I know this has already been posted all over the internet, but I too thought I would "share the goodness" as one blog wrote, and because it would be a shame if you didn't see it. I love Stefanie's blog and their story, such a great reminder each day of why we are here on earth and how blessed we are. So perfect for this mother's day week!

end of year bbq

It was time for our annual end of the year/good bye 3rd years bbq last Saturday. We had a great time eating delicious food and hanging out with each other one last time before people start leaving for the Summer.

I am mad we didn't do this the other 2 years but here is a group picture of all of us.
(minus Jon & Kate)
(12 of us in the picture will be done and not returning next year)
the boys (the reasons we all ended up in Kansas)
the girls
Jack loves Steve.

We had a great time, thanks to the Moss's for hosting it!

luke's final law school days

Luke is quickly approaching his last days of school. Actually at 5pm on Thursday he will be completely done with law school (minus the bar exam). We are amazed at how quickly these last 3 years have flown by. We are very proud of all of the hard work he has put into school and all that he has done to make a better life for our family.
A couple weeks ago he had his final trial. He was paired up with our friend Wade and they did a great job. Don't they already look like attorneys?

Mykle got to be a witness at their trial so she was there to take pictures for me. Thanks Mykle!

2 months

Charlie turned 2 months yesterday. He is getting so big!

He is now wearing 3-6 month clothes and this last week he started smiling. It is so fun that he is starting to respond more to us. He sleeps pretty well at night, usually 6 hours or more. He is still a very sweet baby and hardly ever cries. We love this little man!
