Christmas season

Yay for blogging- I have been awful! I decided to start with the Christmas season and I would go back and do the rest later. I am excited to start keeping a better record of our lives again!

This year we started out the Christmas season with a magical weekend. The day after Thanksgiving we loaded p the Outback and headed to Star Valley. Wyoming. We went to Grandma & Grandpa Great to join them on their annual Christmas tree hunt.  Every year they hook hook up the horses and jingle bells to the sleighs and head out in the mountains to cut down their Chrsitmas trees. Seriously, it is like it is straight out of a movie. The scenery is gorgeous and  as you can tell from the pictures we had a great time. I think this year they had about 50 people come. They had 2 sleighs and about 15 horses. We are so excited that found a tradition that our kids will remember for a lifetime. Thanks Gma Kathy & Gpa Lou!

Char was so bundled her could hardly move.

Jack was so excited to go exploring once we got to the camp. He loved every second of the hunt, except for his gloves that wouldn't stay on. We will definetely come really prepared next year!

 Making snow angels.

We take the sleighs to whever they decide to make camp and then unload and build a fire for hot chocolate.
Char started to get cold and wasn't loving that he couldn't move.
He finally decided to throw in the towel and just take a nap.

We then got on horseback and went out o find our tree to take home. Our horses name was Sundance. (We did not come very prepared with snow gear. Thank goodness Gma & Gpa's Russian friends had left their snow clothes at their house. They came in good use and I must say I looked pretty good!)
We finally spotted this beauty and decided this was the one.
They cut it down for us and hooked it up to the horses to drag it back to camp.

 Here is our tree!
 The trail of horses.
Gpa Lou hard at work so the rest of us could have fun!
Jack got to help drive the sleigh.
Char seriously took the best nap while we were out!
 Us with the grandparents.
Doesn't the Outback look awesome with a tree tied to the top- love!
We had such a great time. We are so thankful for Gpa Lou and Gma Kathy. They are always so excited when we make it up to Wyoming and always make sure we have the best time. We love them lots!

girls trip

The second weekend in June, I left for the weekend and headed out with 11 girls to St George! (can you believe that none of us were pregnant or nursing?) No kids or husbands for 3 days- we had a great time. Friday we swam & went to dinner. Then off to get cupcakes and ice cream. Then we had lots of laughs and stayed up WAY too late :)
 Saturday we headed to Vegas.
We went to the outlets, ate at the Cheesecake Factory & then did LOTS of shopping at H&M.
Then we went and cooled off with a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity.

And of course we had to play the slots while we were there.
It was such a fun trip. I have known these girls for a LONG time and it has been so much fun spending more time with them lately. They are such good friends, I am so grateful for them! (Thanks Missy for providing the condo & Kellee for driving!) And thanks to my sister Summer for watching the boys on Friday & and an awesome husband for being a single dad for the weekend- love him!

the whole fam went to the zoo together!

the bird show was a hit!

poor char- the tiger was sleeping so he went and stood right by him & all of a sudden the tiger rolled over and stuck his paw right where Charlie was standing, scared him half to death!

We had a great time! It is always a crazy, loud, but fun time when the WHOLE family gets together!
It was also Summer's bday that day- happy birthday to her!
