since we've been home

Since we have been home we have been very busy. I have hit that nesting stage and I have been on the rampage trying to get everything ready for baby Charlie. We have the official date of March 1st scheduled for the c-section. We will go in at 6am. They gave me the choice of March 1st or the week before on Feb. 24th. The 24th is Jack's exact birthday so I decided to hold off for another week. I am sure I will be regretting that decision at the end having to be pregnant another week, but I can't imagine a whole lifetime of trying to plan 2 kids birthdays on the same day! He has completely taken over my body and I am getting pretty anxious to get him out! He moves like crazy and is very active at night. I have started to get all the fun things like heartburn every night (never had this with Jack) and I am just plain huge! You gotta love when you hit the point where your shirt (no matter how big) has a gap at the bottom.
We started having weekly appointments, each week we get an ultrasound which makes it extra fun! If you don't already know, we found out at our 20 week ultrasound that his umbilical cord only has 2 blood vessels (they are supposed to have 3) so they are being a little bit careful. Everything has so far looked great and aren't worried, they just have to make sure he continues to grow normally. It is nice to get to check up on him every week and see him as he gets bigger and bigger. They said on Jan. 13th that he weighs around 4 1/2 pounds. The first week after we got home our ultrasound tech was feeling extra nice and went in 3D mode on a lot of the pictures.(usually they charge for this) It is kind of fun and kind of creepy at the same time. At this ultrasound when they first showed the baby Jack said, "oh cute", then as we went on we kept trying to point out the different body parts to him and he just kept telling us that everything was the bum.

In this one he is holding his hands together.
This is a profile and right by his head you can see his foot. Poor kid had his foot all the way up by his head. He is running out of room, I don't know how either of us can go another month.
This one is a little creepy but you get the whole face. I was showing Jack these pictures and he said he wanted to see the face so I showed him this one, he then replied that he wanted to see another one, that one was gross. He is taking after Jack and already has a big head. They said it is measureing about 2 weeks bigger. I am so glad I am not even trying to push him out!
We have pulled out all of the baby stuff and I have done non-stop laundry washing the carseat, swing, bouncer, and all of the clothes. Jack has had fun testing all of the baby stuff out, including opening and trying new pack of pacifiers I bought. He is getting very excited and he can definetely sense that it is getting close. I can't wait for him to be a big brother!

Changes for Jack.......
Part of getting ready for Charlie has been to officially make Jack a big boy. That included getting him a big boy bed and potty training! I feel like a rotten mom putting all these changes on him all at once but he has done great!

We took down the crib and got him a twin bed. He actually loves it and has slept great in it. we have made some changes in his room to make it a big boy room, I will post pictures as soon as it is all finished.
It is nice that Luke and I can go lay down and snuggle him at nights too.
He also is completely potty trained!- I made my goal of only having one child in diapers, yay!
May be too much info but for my record...... He has gone off and on throught the past year but I have never really pushed it. He also hated wearing underwear, it was almost impossible to get him to put them on. But after we got over that issue it has gone really well. We started the Friday after we got home and it really only took him a few days to get really good at it. Sunday we took him to church with underwear on and he stayed dry the whole time. We have since left many times and he hasn't had an accident. I was super nervous about the night time situation, since we had just bought him a nice new mattress and all new bedding, but he stays dry all night long. (we had a little issue the first night, but Luke and I are taking the blame since he told us multiple times that night before we put him to bed that he had a stomach ache. I was too convinced that he was wearing underwear at all times to listen, but he really did have a stomach ache, a bad one! Poor kid. Actually it was poor mom & dad, but I guess we got what we deserved.) I am so proud of him! Without even asking him most of the time, he just goes in and does his thing, he is starting to want to do everything by himself. It is so cute to see him standing up like a big boy. (I have a cute picture but it probably isn't internet appropriate)
It is sso cute to see him in his little underwear!
So here is our grown up little boy. We adore him.
Oh I had to post a picture of his cute slippers for the grandmas. I went on a hunt for these slippers to get them for Jack for his christmas jammies and couldn't find them ANYWHERE. I was about to give up when we returned home but a few days after we were home, I went to our baby Gap and there they were! I was so excited! And I only had to pay $3 for them- such a steal! He loves tromping around like a dinosaur in them! They are so cute with his dinosaur jammies!

and that is the last of the pictures from Utah. No good bye pictures or anything, I was awful with taking pictures! But all in all we had a wonderful month in Utah. Our last Christmas Break ever!!! We are always spoiled and we will never be able to repay our families for all they do for us- so we will just publicly thank them! We miss our families already, but we are glad to be home and settled again. We just can't wait till the next time we see them!

Jack loves his E!

Our last Saturday in Utah we were lucky enought o be able to go to Ethan's first basketball game. We usually have to miss out on stuff like this so we are always so glad to be able to go. Of course he is one of the best out there, as usual. I love bragging about my neices and nephews :) Oh and have I mentioned that Jack worships Ethan? He loves being around older kids and he especially loves being around Ethan and his friends. He loves to pretend he is a big boy with them. He usually ends up driving them nuts, jumping on them and tackling them, but I am sure they secretly like it. If he could always have his cousins around he would be in heaven!

big boy bed

Grandma Jill & Grandpa Neils were so nice to get Jack a bed all ready, so when we went to stay there Jack had his own little room and bed to sleep in. They got Aunt Bree's old toddler bed out and got it all cleaned up and then went and bought Toy Story bedding. Jack loved it.

Isn't it so cute?
Of course he had to sleep with Buzz in his bed.
good night

visiting aunt ally

After getting a text from Aunt Ally to come visit her at work for weeks we finally made it down there. The kids loved their mini hot chocolates (Jack likes to call it warm chocolate) and their mini sparkly doughnuts.

dinosaur museum

Summer & I decided to take Jack & Avs to the dinosaur museum while the other kids were in school and everyone else was at work. The kids loved it. It was fun to let them just run around and do whatever they wanted for awhile. I love this picture of Jack & Avs. They just love each other.

the next week.....

The next week was a busy one. Luke had interviews in Vegas and Denver. So Monday I decided to go with Luke down to Vegas. We headed down and stayed them night in Mesquite. Oh how I love Mesquite (actually I hate it) but we did have a good time. It was actually the first time we have left Jack over night (give us a break we live 1200 miles from our family babysitters). We went to dinner, watched a big football game, and watched a movie. It was a nice night by ourselves. The next morning we drove down to Vegas and went to breakfast. That is where I took the one and only picture, the one up above. Then Luke went to his interview and I went to the mall. After he was done we made a quick stop to the outlets and then to In-n-out and headed home. It was a quick trip but it was fun! Thanks to our families for taking such good care of Jack, I am sure he hardely missed us!
The next day Luke got up at 4:30 am and headed to the airport to go to Denver. He spent the day there going to 2 interviews and then headed back home. Again a really quick trip.
So we are still waiting to here back from the firms, but hopefully after the 2 crazy days we are one step closer to knowing where we are going! Law school life is a fun one!

New Years Day

New Years Day Grandpa Skip wanted to take all the kids up to Cabellas and to the aquarium. I don't know which one the kids liked more. We invited Grandma Shippen to come along.
Jack liked riding with Grandma until she almost ran over someone, then we took away her cart and put her in a regular wheelchair.
I love these next couple of pictures. The kids were laughing about the bird below, Jack was pretending that it was REALLY funny.

The funny bird.
Grandpa showing Jack all the animals.
Passing out the fish food, so they could feed the fish in the pond.

Then off to the aquarium....

Love this girl...
We had a great day, thanks dad!

snow time

After all the fun in the snow the kids looked like this....
On the 30th we took the kids to play in the snow and went sledding. We got them all bundled up. It was such a perfect day, it was lightly snowing and there was lots of fresh snow on the ground. It actually was a pretty warm day too! We had so much fun!

Jack didn't want to go down at first, but we made him go.
Throw him on and push them down-fast!
2nd time down-I knew he would like it if we could just get him to do it once.
Making a snow angel.
Luke & Jack crashing into the wall.

Ethan & Haylee crashing at the bottom.
Getting ready to throw a snowball.
Avery could barely walk with all the clothes she had on.

Trying to catch snow on his tongue.

Don't you love their hats? Jack is yelling at Ethan, "Go Utah Utes!"
