it was a sad, sad day

We ended spring break on a very sad note. We got the boys all dressed up (Gma Jill bought them jerseys while she was here, we love them!) and sat down to watch our Jayhawks play. I don't have to tell you all how the game went I am sure you all heard. It was awful watching them lose. We were really hoping for another championship while we were here. They really should of done it. And for them to lose to a team like Northern Iowa, it was gross. It gives me another reason to dislike Iowa. We were sick to our stomachs the whole game, Luke was nervously cleaning the house and at one point he went in the other room and kept asking me what was going on. He couldn't even watch it.

We still say daily probably a few times how we can't believe that happened. We still aren't over it. I think it was that moment that it hit me how sad I am to be leaving Kansas! We have had a great time here and the Jayhawks definetely made the last 3 years even better. Even though that was our last Jayhawk game while living in Kansas, we will be lifetime Jayhawk fans. We already can't wait for the day when we get to bring our boys back to Lawrence on vacation and go to a game!

Luke spent a while using tape to write Jack's name on it. He loved it.

spring break 2010

Last week Luke had spring break, our last spring break ever! We were wishing we had planned on going somewhere but since we had just had a baby I guess it was good we stayed home. The weather most of the week was awful, so Monday and Tuesday we sat home ALL say long. So by Wednesday we were so ready to get out of the house!

It still wasn't the best weather on Wednesday so we had to find something to do indoors. We decided to go out to the T-Rex Cafe. It is like Rainforest Cafes but dinosaur themed. It is a great spot for Jack!

And then Luke and Jack went in and dug for dinosaur bones for awhile and Charlie and I were able to do a little shopping at the outlets. It was a great day!

Grandma Jill brought a kite to Jack when she came and later that day Luke took him outside to try it out.

There was hardly any wind so it didn't work out so well.

Jack loved running around outside though, we are so ready for Spring weather to stay!

Thursday was the one day with good weather so we had to get outside. We headed to Topeka. We saw on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives that they had visited a Drive-In in Topeka so we decided to give it a try. It was calles Bobo's Drive In. It has been open for more than 50 years and it definetely fits in with Topeka (which isn't such a good thing).

We sat in the car and they brought a tray with our food and hung it on the window. We weren't very impressed with their food. It was just typical drive-in food which isn't really my favorite. I don't know what we were expecting from it but I don't trust Guy very much any more.

Then we headed over to the zoo and while I fed Charlie in the car Luke and Jack tried again to get his kite up. This time it worked and they had so much fun flying it!

Then we headed to the zoo.

I really think Topeka is a great little zoo, you get so close to the animals.

Jack's new thing he loves to do is to take pictures. So at each animal we let him take a picture, here they are:

Then the rest of the weekend we spent at home again. The weather turned bad again so we tried to entertain ourselves inside. We made Jack's favorite treat, chocolate covered strawberries.

Saturday we woke up to snow! Yuck! mLuke and Jack tried to make the most of it and went out and tried to make a snow fort.

They didn't last outside long enough to finish the fort, JAck came in because it was too cold. He wasn't to happy about being cold.

So then Jack found things to do inside, like hide in a tupperware.

This is what Charlie and I did all day. So nice.

Charlie Rex

I don't know why I never posted rex as his middle name before-it is one of my faborite parts of his name! (we named him Rex after my Grandpa that passed away in December & my dad's middle name. He also shares the middle name with my sweet little angel nephew Aiden so it makes it extra special!)

he has already gotten so big! last Thursday we took him fir his 2 week checkup and here are his stats:

weight: 8 lbs 5 oz 33%

height: 21 inches 57%
head circ: 14.5 40%

His umbilical cord finally fell off on the 13th so we could finally give him a real bath! H wouldn't open his eyes because it was too bright, he wasn't to sure about it.

He is starting to stay awake alot more. It is so fun, I love seeing him with his eyes wide open!

Jacks whereabouts

Here are some things Jack has been able to do since Charlie has been born......

The day after we got home from the hospital playgroup was going to Great Harvest to see Bob the Baker. This is one of our favorite playgroups so I didn't want Jack to miss it. My good friend Jenni said she would take Jack. We dropped him off and he went and had a good time with his friends.

Then the next Friday while Luke's mom was here, Jack and I left Charlie home with grandma and dad and went to our friend Kannon's 1st birthday party. Jack was sad to be leaving Charlie but he loved the party! He told me on the way he wanted Charlie to come and I told him he was too little to be around lots of kids, and he told me to bring him and just leave him in his car seat, he loves his brother!

The party was St Patrick's Day themed and so cute!

Jack with his rainbow cupcake and his face painted. He wanted a rocket ship, it didn't really go with the theme but it made him happy.

They got to find gold coins and trade them in for treasure. It was such a cute party, thanks Mykle! I was glad she went all out with the St Patricks Day because I didnt end up doing anything for Jack this year on the 17th, I'm an awful mom :)

Grandma Jill's visit

I've gotten behind in blogging again....

My computer died and I have been waiting to get it fixd because I know I have pictures on there that I need to post but I am getting too behind so I will just have to post those pictures later.

Here are a few of the pictures we took while Luke's mom was here (I know there are some more on my computer that I will post later)

A week after Charlie was born we dropped my mom off at the airport and only had to wait an hour before we got to pick up another Grandma. Luke's mom came in and then stayed the entire week with us. Jack was so excited to have another Grandma stay at his house. He loved teasing Grandma all week long. He started calling her Grandma Neils instead of Grandma Jill and he thought he was so funny. She would ask him what her name was and he would always say Grandma Neils and then laugh and laugh. He loves being a tease. It was also fun to hear them out in the living room each morning playing their game with the couch cushions each morning and both of them laughing. Jack had a lot of fun with her and of course she came and spoiled him like crazy which is something Jack has learned to LOVE! He convinced her that he must have the McQueen car with dirt on him, even though he has 15 other McQueen cars, a new movie to watch with her, and new KU gear.

She also was a big help with Charlie, a great cuddle buddy so that I could have some free time! I don't know who loved the snuggle time more her or Charlie!

She was a huge help, cooking wonderful meals and helping out with the boys and around the house. We were so glad that she could come out. We think the world of her and are so grateful to have a mom and grandma like her. Love ya Grandma Neils!

we survived week 1!

The first week of having Charlie home has been wonderful. Not to brag but Charlie is really the perfect baby. He pretty much just sleeps all the time. The first few nights I actually set my alarm every few hours and I would have to wake Charlie up to feed him. I haven't heard him cry more than about 5 seconds at a time and that usually only happens once a day or less. I told my mom that I would even be the octomom if I could have all babies like Charlie. I barely feel like I have 2 kids. I know that it probably won't be this easy for long so we will enjoy it while it lasts!

Last Friday we had to take Charlie back to the doctors to test for jaundice. These were his measurements:

Weight 6.8 lbs 17%

Height 20.3 in. 61 %

Head 13.7 26%

He feels so tiny to us. Luke thinks he will be our little runt, but I love how small he is.

He always has a look of concern. Over the last week Luke has already come to these conclusions about him:

he has a totally different personality than Jack

he will grow up to be a professor

Charlie will do better in school than Jack BUT Jack will make more money

he will be annoyed with Jack's personality- even though I am sure they will be best buddies
*I guess we will have to wait 20 years to see if he was right

We are still loving the hair
