last baby Charlie update before he comes!!!

I know I can't believe I am posting this picture either. I guess I always want to remember how miserable I am right now :) I am really ready to have this baby!!!

On Wednesday we went to our last ultrasound and dr appointment before he arrives. Everything is still looking great with Charlie and they were really surprised when they did his measurements. All I heard from everyone is "wow, you're having a big baby" Great :). He is measuring at 8lbs 12 oz. right now. And the doctor says he can even be bigger than that. This is even more amazing because of his 2 vessel cord, usually babies with that problem have growth problems. So we are considering ourselves lucky that he has no problems growing. Jack was 8 lbs even and if it was the same I would still be pregnant 2 more weeks with Charlie, so who knows how big Charlie would be if we weren't taking him on Monday. I am just so grateful I have a doctor that told me No Way on a v-bac -that could have been disasterous!

I am feeling pretty uncomfortable right now (alot more than I remember feeling with Jack, but maybe I have forgotten, and I wasn't chasing around a 3 year old when I was pregnant with Jack) I am pretty sure if my stomach stretches anymore it will tear. I hav heartburn every night and I can feel him moving way up in my ribs and clear down in my pelvic bone at the same time. Everytime Luke sees my stomach he laughs and he told me tonight it is starting to get creepy when he moves.

Jack is getting a little impatient and just wants him to come out. I love it, everytime he sees my belly he has to come and kiss it and say "Charlie I love you". He keeps telling Luke "us cut him out", he doesnt want to wait for the doctor. Or when we tell him he can't cut him out the doctor has to he tells us he just want to make a hole then so Charlie can see the light. I am so excited to see his reaction the first time he sees him, he has been waiting so long!
We are pretty much all ready to go, the crib is set up, the diaper bag is packed and the best news is my mom comes in Saturday! If only the doctor would come home from his skiing trip we would be all the way ready to go. I guess I will survive till Monday morning at 6am when we head to the hospital- wish us luck!

my baby turns 3

On Wednesday the 24th Jack turned 3. I can't believe how fast the last 3 years have gone by, but I also can't believe how wonderful they have been! He is truly the light in our lives! It has been so fun to watch him grow up and learn new things and to see his personality (and he has ALOT of personality) come out. I am a little sentimental this week since he turns 3 and baby Charlie comes in just a few days. We are so excited to give Jack a brother (and he is even more excited to get one) but it is a little bittersweet for me. The last 3 years have just been Jack and I everywhere I go. I love having him as a my little buddy at my side and getting to spend so much one on one time with him. He is the funniest kid we know and keeps us entertained all the time. Lately we have had so many moments where we just giggle together (even if it is laughing at our silly daddy :) ) We have been able to take him and do alot of stuff with just our little family. We have made some great memories over the past 3 years and I can't wait to make new memories with Jack in a different light with all of our new changes. We LOVE LOVE LOVE you Jack!

Here is what we did on his Actual birthday:

I made him chocolate chip pancakes and he even got to eat them while watching cartoons (like this never happens on any other day :) )
Then Jack and I went to the doctors to check up on Charlie (something Jack loves doing) and then I took him to McDonalds for lunch.
Then we came home and had a little down time and I let him watch his new movie Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaur

Then later that afternnon we went and picked up daddy and took Jack to the Red store (Target). Our Peterson family sent Jack money for his birthday so we took him and let him choose out a toy with some of the money. He has been wanting this Buzz and Woody Rocket forever. He was so excited to be able to go and buy it himself!
Then we took him to his favorite place to eat "the rice and beans place" Chipotle.

Then we went home and Luke and I turned out the lights and brought in his cake to blow out candles AGAIN. ( it never gets old) He loved our singing.

Then we let him open his presents from us.
His alligator backpack. I love this thing.
And we decided to add to his book collection instead of getting toys this year. He has so many toys and we were needing some new reads. He actually loved gtting books, we have already read We're Going on a Bear Hunt about 50 times.
Then he conviced Luke to relight the candles again, and again and again.
We had a great day and I am sure his birthday will last the rest of the week (especially since Grandma comes into town) so I am sure there will be more birthday posts!

Guess who turned

3......
2, 1 Blast off!!!
We had a space themed party for Jack this year.
Here are the details of the party:
the invites

Jack's solar system (my inspiration for the party, we got it to hang in his big boy room)
the table:
the cake:

the favors: rocketships
Earth cookies (yes I spent hours painting on the frosting with a toothpick)
homemade rocket suckers
inside the favors :
***a huge thanks to my mom for going all over Utah to help me find "rocket" party supplies, Lawrence has nothing!
****and yes you can laugh at me for doing this post, I love the little details in a party and I spent plenty of hours doing it all that I would like to toot my own horn :)

the party

*Thanks Natalie for helping me take pictures, they turned out Great!
Tuesday I threw a party for Jack and his friends. He had a lot of fun and looked forward to all of his friends coming over all week long. We had a lot of fun, thanks friends for coming and making Jack feel special!
Here is what we did!
Sneaking into the cake
David and Jack (aka Buzz Lightyear) being silly

Painting their planets

Being the life of the party

Playing a planet game, they had to throw a planet (ball) back into the solar system (into garbage cans) while they stood on the sun

When Jack would make it
This is what he would do when he missed, and he would sigh, "miss"

Singing Happy Birthday and watching his sparkler candle

It doesn't really work to blow out a sparkler...
We had to do one he could blow out too...

Such Sweet friends, he loved all his presents!

The kids

We had a good time but I was so glad when it was over :) I was hurting so bad afterwards I really thought I might have put myself into labor. It would have been just my luck to go into labor and end up having Charlie on Jack's birthday and without my mom being here yet. I am pretty sure it is going to kill me for the rest of my life to have 2 kids birthdays only 5 days apart!

Gotta love Kansas weather!

We got a big ice storm a few days ago. This is I-70 which is the road you take from Lawrence to Kansas City.
The newspaper said it ended up being a 54 car pile up!

People were just standing on the side of the road for hours.

We are glad we stayed home.
