All Hallows Eve

"I be Buzz"
I think we have heard that a thousand times over the last month and finally Jack got to be Buzz for Halloween! Oh and he was the most handsome Buzz around....
This is his serious Buzz face.
Luke was such a good sport and dressed up like Woody for Jack. Jack loved being Buzz and Woody with Dad!

Jack loves to have Dad fly him around in his costume.

We went trick or treating downtown on Mass street. Jack loved it.
He quickly got the hang of it and began running from person to person. Half way through his bag got to heavy he didn't want to carry it any more. I think he got plenty of candy!
Then I put on my Jesse costume and we headed to the church for the trunk-or-treat.
Jack with his friend Abby. Abby's mom helped me make mine and Luke's costumes. Her whole family was Toy Story characters so I just copied her ideas, she was such a big help!
Jack loved seeing other Buzz's. He loves to follow them around.
Our family....if only I wasn't a huge Jesse
Jack and Baby Kate, isn't she just the cutest pumpkin! We love her!
Then it got dark so Buzz had to put his night vision goggles on.
Jack and his friend Emily. He kept getting in her face and wanted her to look how cool his goggles were.
Time to go home so Buzz took one last fly around the car.
Showing me his loot!
I think he did pretty well!
Happy Halloween family, we missed all of you!

music class halloween party

Last week was our ward music class's Halloween party. It is always a good time and Jack loves getting dressed up with his friends.
The cupcake walk, Jack loved this game. He didn't care that he already got a cupcake, he just kept going round and round.

His spider he made.

He loved this game too, eating a marshmallow off a string. He ate a few marshmallows thinking he was supposed to keep going and going.

Fishing for books!

halloween package

Jack got a fun Halloween package in the mail from Gma and Gpa Peterson! He knew right when I got the mail that it was something for him, and was so excited! I am glad the grandparents took care of Jack this year because I have been a bum of a mom!
They gave him some monster Halloween jammies that are super spooky (Jack loves that word). I love this new face he makes when I want him to say cheese and he really doesn't want to but he will do it for me.

I couldn't resist.......

isn't he handsome?
It is amazing to us how old he is looking and acting. He is such a big boy now.
He is talking better every day and it is so fun to see the things he comes up with. I wanted to make sure I am remembering some of these things so we never forget......
-Whenever he sees the Allstate commercials he says President Obama. (you know the ones with Dennis Haysbert)
-He has been wanting to play switching roles. Either he is the mom or dad, whoever he is playing with, and we are Jack. He then tells us what to do. He told me one day he was mom and we were going to the zoo.
Or my favorite was when he told Luke he was dad and then put him in time out on his red chair. Then he said he needed to clean the room and started to put his toys away. He did get Luke out of timeout and told him it was okay and then wanted to read books, he sat down and patted his lap and told Luke to sit down.
-We try to remind him to say "no thanks" instead of just saying "no", but it has come to bite us in the butt. He is very good but he will use it at times when we ask him to do something now. "Jack will you pick up your toys?" "No thanks mom."
-He is always talking about Grandma or Grandpa or Ethan, Haylee and Avs. The other day he brought me pictures of the kids and said, "My cousins!"

wichita

Last weekend was Luke's fall break, so we decided on Saturday to head down to Wichita. Some of our good friends, Brad & Mandy, moved down there this year and we have been dying to go visit them! We had a great time. We were able to see their beautiful house and Jack finally got to play with Jane again. We hung out at their house, then we went and had some yummy greek food, then we came and put the kids down to bed and had brownie sundaes and chatted all night long.

Mandy got the kids pumpkins so they could paint them.
They had so much fun playing in the backyard. Their backyard is huge, I think Jack thought he was at a park.
We really miss the Serafines in Lawrence, but we are glad they are only a couple hours away so we can go visit! Thanks for letting us come stay at your house, we had a great time!

late night in the phog

What's the best thing about living in Lawrence? the basketball of course. :)
Friday night was the big Late Night in the Phog. This is where they introduce this year's basketball team and gets you all ready for the season. Usually it is midnight madness and goes pretty late, but it started earlier this year so we decided to take the whole family. We went with a few friends and had a great time. It is definetely a little long, okay way long, but it is pretty fun. The end is the best because that is when the men's basketball team is introduced and they play for awhile. They of course will never forget about 2008 when they won the national championship so it was way fun to remember all the fun times we had when they won.

by the end of the night Jack looked like this, actually he passed out in my arms, even with all the crazy noise
4 hours was a little long for him

***Luke wanted me to point out that every expert picks the Jayhawks to win the National Championship this year, so things are looking good! Hopefully we will be celebrating again come March!

library time

We just love our public library here in Lawrence. We love going to storytime every week, and we love all the activities they do. Twice a year they do a big activity, and this time they brought horses. They had 2 miniature horses that the kids could pet, feed, and brus their hair. Jack loved it! They also had popcorn & apple juice. It was a freezing day but it was worth going!
he loved brushing the horses hair, the horses were so beautiful & soft!
then all the kids got to make stick ponies.
he finally got brave enough to try feeding the horse, the girl was so patient with him!

he thought it was funny that the horse tickled him so he had to try it again
trying to get all the boys to look at the same time.....it never works

now that I am finally feeling better I decided it was time to catch up on the blog! So here is what we have been up to since we have been back in Lawrence..........
major blog overload

Baby #2 update

This is a much needed update! I haven't said much about our new arrival and I think it is about time! It has just been the last couple of days that I have started to feel alive again, and not just trying to survive! I was pretty sick for it seem like FOREVER! Finally around 18 weeks I am starting to not feel nauseous all the time. I have been a lot sicker this pregnancy and thrown up alot more!
Now that I am feeling better I am staring to get so excited for this little one. Our little family is very ready to add another. Jack is so in love with this baby already. He talks about the baby all the time and he loves seeing other babies. Although he will always say "not ours baby" when he sees another baby. Then he will come and point to my tummy and say "ours". He loves to give the baby kisses and tell the baby good morning. He loves going to the doctors with me and he loves hearing the heartbeat, although he is usually showing off for the doctor so he will cover his ears and pretend like he doesn't want to listen. Even Luke is ready for the baby to come, he is always saying how he wishes it was time. We can't wait!!!
Anyways I haven't even written the details of the baby yet so here they are:
I am almost 19 weeks
I am due March 5th:
Although because I am doing a repeat c-section they will take the baby 1-2 weeks early. I am fine with going early and not late this time but there is one minor detail that bothers me. Jack's birthday is exactly one week before my due date, which means they will have VERY close birthdays. Luke thinks we should do it on the same day, but I am hoping to get it as far from his birthday as I can. Hopefully we can get them at least a week apart!
Boy or Girl:
We still don't know! I went into the doctors last week and I was hoping he would let me get my ultrasound at 20 weeks but he just said lets do it at my next appointment. Another month! So we will find out October 26th and I will be 22 weeks. I was 13 weeks when I found out with Jack so by now we are dying to know!
I feel like it is a girl, and I have since the very beginning, but I am not getting set on anything (although I do tend to call the baby her all the time). Either way we will be excited, I would be completely happy if Jack had a little brother too. Luke was sure that it was a girl at the beginning but now because of his fears of raising a teenage girl, he is trying to convince himself that it is another boy. He tries to tell me that he really thinks it is a boy but I still don't believe him.
So I will try to be better at baby updates now that I am feeling better!

Shaake's pumpkin patch

I LOVE, Love, LOVE this time of year!!
There is nothing better than the cooler weather, fall clothes,
and fun Fall festivities like the pumpkin patch!
We had a great time out at the pumpkin patch Friday. It was pretty windy, but we managed to still have some fun!
Jack's pumpkin he picked!

a much needed night out

Wednesday Luke called me and asked if I thought I could find a babysitter. Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson were in Kansas City that night and Luke thought we should go. He said he was feeling really old and he needed to do something like this. (I think he was having a little mid-life crisis) But if that is what he needs to make him feel young again, I'll take it! We have NEVER been on a date in Kansas and it was so nice to go out just the two of us. My friend Jenni was SO nice to take Jack and put him to bed and stay at our house until midnight. I felt so bad we were gone so long!
Luke was so funny in the car he said, "we are so spontaneous", ok not really but it was fun to pretend for a day! It was so fun to be able to go to a concert again. We hadn't been to a Dave concert since I was pregnant with Jack. I think we forgot how good he is live! Willie Nelson is getting so old and it you can tell it is getting hard for him to play for very long, but it's fun to say we have seen him. He came out and played Grave Digger with Dave Matthews- it was awesome. Dave played a GREAT show and played lots of old songs.
It was such a fun night! I love you Luke!
and THANK YOU Jenni! (We owe you big time!)
Yes, I even wore my Willie Nelson shirt!

the zoo.......again

I was looking at pictures of our trip to Utah and Jack saw the zoo pictures and begged to go again. He asked Luke and of course daddy gave in. So we headed off to the Topeka zoo. It is a perfect little zoo for Jack. It only takes about an hour to go through but you see all the main animals; tigers, bears, lions, giraffes, monkeys, and elephants. Not to bad for a small zoo.

First were the giraffes. Jack had a giraffe toy and he kept trying to show the giraffes it.

Growling like a bear.
When I left I realized that my camera was on a weird setting, so the pictures are all a little fuzzy..oops.
