our adventures the last couple of weeks

When Luke is not working we are almost always out looking for an adventure. We are always looking for something new to do. So here are some things we found the last couple of weeks.....

On Saturday I was dying to get out in the sun. We haven't had the best weather so we haven't really been out swimming yet this year. It has finally warmed up, but the humidity has followed so if you are outside you have to be in the water. I had heard of a couple of lakes with beaches around so we decided to go find one. We ended up going to a beach that Luke found online, it is at Lake Mcbride. Oh my, it was the perfect beach! We had so much fun! The lake was pretty good sized but they don't allow speed boats on it. They let pontoons, fishing boats, sail boats, canoes and kayaks and paddle boats so you can go out and it is so relaxing. Jack ran out into the lake before we could even take our clothes off. We had to hurry and run after him.Jack loved digging in the sand.
This is my fabulous pedicure. Luke "forced" me to go get a pedicure on Thursday night. I was hitting a breaking point and needed some alone time. It was wonderful, I love him.

Jack decided that he was going to try and stand on his head. He seriously sat there for like 5 minutes. He is so funny.

Then after enjoying the beach for a few hours we rented a paddle boat for an hour. I didn't bring my camera but it was way fun. It was the most relaxing day. There is some beautiful homes around the lake that we were drooling over, we came home and looked and one was for sale for 1.2 million, oh well it was fun to dream.

We also ventured out to a baseball game. We have been trying to go to a game for a while but it seems like it is always raining on game days. So Thursday night when it was good weather we decided to go. We sat in the grass section so Jack could run. That will come back and bite us in the butt later. I know this picture is so gross, but how can you go to a baseball game without getting a hotdog!

It was NFL night and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders were there to perform. It was pretty hilarious every time they would come out all the little boys would run up to the fence with their cell phone camera. Little boys are gross.
Oh and big boys are gross too. Seriously they would stand there with their cameras and record their whole performance.

There are splash pads all around town and many of the public parks. It is a great way for the kids to get cool. Jack and I went before we had to go get Luke one day and Jack had a blast.

He kept jumping around, i loved it.

Getting ready to run..... ready, set, GO!

A couple weeks ago we heard about an arts festival in Iowa city, so we decided to go check it out. We actually really like Iowa City. It is a lot like Lawrence of course since it has the University of Iowa there. They have an awesome downtown area, I would dare say that it almost beats out Mass Street in Lawrence. Right in the middle of the street they have a playground for kids, how great is that! They also have and awesome library right there too.
There are a variety of shops and restaurants all down the street, one of our favorites was a market. They have all sorts of food, fresh juices, and cookies.
Walking down the street enjoying the live music and booths full of art.
They had all sorts of food vendors. Jack loved the steak kabobs. We also had some awesome grilled corn.

thanks Iowa City for making us feel like we were back in good ol' Kansas for a day

I'm glad you found that pool. I was going to tell you about it and forgot to. And Iowa City is great. You could go ice skating at the mall too and it's really fun.

What fun times!!!I love that you just throw yourself into life in Iowa. I think sometimes it's just easier to sit at home but not nearly as fun. Is Luke liking his job?

My favorite part about the WHOLE thing... Luke MADE you get a pedi. Smart hubby of yours! It's nice when they notice enough to send you out for some YOU time even if funds are tight! I am glad Luke is so good to you. I just love your little family, Jack melts my heart. Glad you guys are having some summer fun!

After reading this I feel like a loser of a mom. My poor kids haven't got to do nearly as many fun things as Jack has done this summer :) I love that hotdog pict, so funny, and yes all male forms are gross...tell Luke he should upload the video he took of the cheerleaders...lol
